Harvest with a Capital "H"
Harvest with a Capital H
Happy Harvest from Ayres Vineyard & Winery! Around here we capitalize the word Harvest and we treat it like a proper holiday. When my kids were young they would run around the house cheering, “Happy Harvest! Happy Harvest! It’s Harvest day today!” While we eat rather well year-round, our meals enjoy an added layer of intentionality during Harvest season. It’s like a six week celebration of the best life has to offer. We gather the three generations around the dinner table as often as our tween and teen kids’ schedules allow. What happens around that table is nothing short of magic.
I am overwhelmed with gratitude each and every Harvest. This year I am especially grateful for this lovely stretch of sunshine we are now experiencing. A healthy dose of rain poured over Ribbon Ridge a week or so ago, almost to fuel the clusters with the upcoming week of 80 degree temperatures. Memorable wines will manifest from this gift of late September sun! I am also grateful beyond measure for my vineyard crew. We believe our foreman is the best in the biz; he attracts diligent workers to take care of each and every cluster throughout the growing season. I’m grateful I get to call my passion a job. Does Harvest entail long hours? Absolutely. I say bring it. Men and women in the field have worked endless hours to make my winemaking career possible. You’ll never hear me complain about hard work.
From my Harvest table to yours, I wish you amazing meals shared with loved ones and abundant wellness as this season unfolds…
